I personally love using salsa as an ingredient in a whole host of delicious foods. My current favorite is to add a few dollops of pineapple salsa to vegetable chili. I know this sounds strange, but it adds a good dimension of flavor and a little bit of sweetness to cut the spicy kick. We err on the side of spicy wusses in our household, though I'm slowly but surely coming around.

ReplyDeleteYum! Salsa is one of those things that I CRAVE when I haven't had it for a while, which is probably why I make Nacho French Bread Pizza every Monday night. I've got to get my fix! Strangely, even though I've been making it every week for months now, I'm still not tired of it. But I think the assortment of salsa flavors could (literally) add some kick to our ol' favorite. ReplyDeleteMmmmm. I actually make a really simple and lowfat chicken chili with salsa. Just shredded chicken breast, great northern beans, a really good salsa and chicken broth. Then finish off with sour cream and cheese if you wish. I know - it sounds a little weird, but for a quick and yummy chili fix, it does the trick!

This is my favorite line of jarred salsa!! I'm addicted to the stuff! I've been making a one pot chicken dish with the Pace pico de gallo...dredge chicken thighs in seasoned flour then sautee in a little oil...pour a jar of the salsa and let simmer and serve with rice and beans! It's delicious!!

ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite ways to use it, is to make a taco dip: cream cheese on the bottom, ground beef+onions+green peppers+salsa, topped with mozarella cheese! Serve with taco chips... delish!
What a great giveaway. My favorite thing to cook using salsa are my Mexican Pizza Pockets. I the filling w/ ground turkey and roasted tomatillo salsa. The filling itself is great for tacos too.

ReplyDeleteI make a mean Mexican Lasagna where I used spinach tortillas instead of the traditional lasagna pasta. I also use taco-seasoned ground beef or chicken, salsa, corn, and black beans as the filling. DELISH!
ReplyDeleteSalsa is my most favorite thing. In college I would go through one of those huge family size salsa containers in a week. I've gotten my cravings under control finally, but still eat lots of it. Narrowing down my favorite thing to make w. salsa is very difficult. I'd maybe say mixing it with avacados, garlic, lime juice, hot sauce, and onions to make a delicious guac.

ReplyDeleteI'm all about salsa as a marinade. I like to put chicken in it for the day then kind of stir fry it. This serves as the base to my fajitas. Pace is actually my favorite brand for this.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite use of salsa is the seven layer dip recipe I got from my mother. Tried it with a mango salsa recently and it was perfect for family members who can't stand anything remotely spicy.

I love making my moms version of Chilaquillas for breakfast and adding salsa to it. Corn tortillas fried up with an egg, tomato sauce, salsa and cheese then topped with sour cream. Yummy!
