Peanut Butter Chocolate Chunk Blondies

I hope everyone is well rested, ready to vote tomorrow & of course, stay up to watch the results! Lucky me, I voted early by mail so I hope there were no mail mishaps preventing the delivery & count of my oh-so-important ballot. Hubby has to go wait in line tomorrow morning (sucker!). Hopefully it won't be too bad despite all of the media footage of snaking, long lines. Oh, he is also one of the 8% of Americans still undecided 3 hours until election day. I told him to flip a coin. I jest.

On another note, I feel as if I'm being watched. Hear me out. Every time I go running, I feel as if the masses are "checking me out." And by "checking me out," I'm not talking about sauntering into a bar with a cute outfit on and grabbing attention. I'm talking about sweaty me, running, breathing laboriously, trying with all my energy to finish a run.

For the 3rd run in a row, I got at least one "looking good!" from a passerby. Uh, what is it?!

Sometimes I panic. Did I forget to wear a shirt?! Is something popping out of my sports bra?! Do I look like I'm about to die? Can they hear my stomach sloshing? It baffles me.

I ran with a girlfriend last week and as we're running, she casually mentions,
"you know, everyone we pass seems to be watching you."
Me: OK, THANK YOU. I'M NOT CRAZY!
"Maybe it's because you're exotic looking."
Me: Uh, everyone in California is Asian, don't you know?

I've resigned to the fact that I must run funny. I like to imagine that maybe I run like a duck or with the grace of a 2 legged dog... who knows? I'm not being humble here. If I walked down the street half nude, I probably wouldn't get as much attention. **Sigh**

Back to Peanut Butter Chip Blondies. Check these out! I found this ridiculously easy yet delicious recipe on Bakingblonde's website. If you're ever in need of an idea for a sweet treat, head over to her site and you won't be disappointed. This is a true one bowl, no mixer needed dessert.

Though she suggests chopping up Reese's and placing them atop the blondies mid-baking, I sadly did not have any so replaced them with the remainder of my mini-chips. Now that it's post - Halloween I may need to try the Reese's version soon!
Check out her recipe here. I pretty much followed her recipe though I used chocolate chunks in the dough and sprinkled chocolate mini chips on top.

Oh, and if you're out on the streets & see me running, be a kind one and let me know what's so intriguing. :)

I'm laughing because I usually just get the cursory nod or "morning" on my morning runs. Although I do run on trails so I don't get as many random passerbys.

Decadent!

You know Sharon, the "checking out" of you while you are running has probably been there all along. You are just noticing it now. Don't let it creep you out.

Oh, and don't forget to put on a shirt while running. I doubt you'll want that type of attention.

I'll have to make those blondies some time, really. I remember seeing them on bakingblonde too.

I only run in the gym but I also have thet strange feeling people are looking at me, I just thought it was because I run in a goofy way. But just last week this guy aproached me and ask if I was listening to jokes on my mp3, since I'm allways laughing. Apparently I laugh when I run... So maybe that's your problem as well, lol!

This is a great recipe for my leftover halloween candy.

I think people just like to look at a woman running. I have gotten beeps from kids in the neighborhood and I am old enough to be their mother (if I had them really young:)

That would give me a complex!

I would much rather get your comments when running. When I ran a 5K last weekend, someone I had never met before said, "you look really tired". Wow. Thanks.

Those brownies looks so good! Oh to live in world where Mr. Luce could eat peanuts.

hahahaha, funny! I also feel really self conscious when I get comments or horn honking when I'm out running! I remember taking my car to get the emissions tested after a long, run - all sweaty and messy in baggy running shorts and a t-shirt, and got hit on by the guy that checked my car! Anyhow, I think you should be totally flattered. :)

And these blondies look irresistable!

can they hear your stomach sloshing? girl, i just laughed out loud--that's hilarious. there's nothing better than a little positive attention to motivate one to work out. :)
great bars, by the way. chunks trump chips every day. :)

Your running story is so funny, especially the part about the "sloshing stomach." I imagine people thinking about me, "should that pregnant girl be running like that," since I always get a majorly bloated belly while running. Probably because I chew gum and swallow so much air while I'm huffing and puffing.

Oh look at that blondie, it's perfect!

oh my goodness i want some right now! did you have a chance to eat at Potbelly's while you were in DC? They have a blondie to die for. I finally had it for the first time after eating there for 5 years! I was staying away from the temptation, but I finally gave in. Great pics...

Bren, I LOVE Potbelly's! There's an absence of good sandiwch places in San Diego.
